rest[less]
(2019)
Movement piece dissecting the phenomenon of burnout through the curious lens of a beehive.
Directed, produced and performed by GOLKK Theatre
Music by Theon Cross
Set design by Peter Morton
running time: 45mins
rest[less] explores what happens to our bodies if we never switch off- if we aren’t able to step away from work, and make time for rest. As the phenomenon of burnout becomes more and more normalised, our curious and chaotic “bee world” highlights the absurdity of work/life balance.
Rest[less] is GOLKK’s latest show which premiered at The Place in January 2019. The show has been developed into a full 45-min ready performance over a two week ACE funded R&D period, before being performed at the Gulbenkian, Canterbury and The Cockpit, London as part of Voila Europe Festival 2019.
