Theatre-maker, actor and dancer.
Born and raised in Bulgaria, I moved to the UK in 2013 to study Drama and Theatre Studies, and continued on to an MA in Physical Acting at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
I am co-founder of a Kent-based theatre company GOLKK (2016) where I used to work as a Co-director, Producer, Performer and Marketing Manager for five years. During my time at GOLKK, I co-directed two shows - Peeking (2016) and rest[less] (2019); I successfully managed GOLKK through two ACE-funded projects as Marketing Manager; I delivered numerous theatre workshops to schools like Herne Bay High and to community groups such as KRAN; I created and executed various virtual projects during the 2020 pandemic.
On the side, I was working as a Sessional Contextual Studies Lecturer at the University for Creative Arts.
I am trained in physical performance, and my interest in the various approaches to it led me to undertake practical research into Developing a new way of teaching Bulgarian folk dances to non-Bulgarian students through physical methodologies during my Masters degree. The research included a series of workshops with trained actors from various backgrounds.
I come from a nine-year Bulgarian Folk dancer background as part of Ensemble “Aktavis”. After coming to England in 2013, I kept my connections with the ensemble by supporting them in their annual international folklore festival ‘Peace on the Balkans’ as their Emcee, festival guide and communication.
My previous projects include directing a music video, short movement films, producing an intergenerational online performance, collaborating with AI artists, architects, live art artists, refugees and more. I have taken part in several independent and international projects and dabbled in stage management and directing. I have performed on stages such as The Place, The Gulbenkian, and The Cockpit.
In 2019 I published my first bilingual poem book, and currently, I am working on my debut children’s book and second book of poems Thoughts unfold.
